The main building's bamboo structure, seen through the pine forest

From Pine Seedlings to Sauna Beams

He planted fifty pine trees to remember Finland. Fourteen years later, they became a home.

Pine trees are not native to Bandung, yet Adhi Nugraha, the founder of BukatanaHUB, missed the evergreen forests of Finland. That's why when he first purchased land next to Bukatanah Village, he planted about 50 pine trees. Bukatanah Village continued agriculture and nurturing the trees, while Adhi moved back to Finland to pursue a PhD degree.

Fourteen years later, Adhi returned to Indonesia with his family. Some of the now fully grown pine trees were harvested and used as the foundation for the house Adhi built for his family. Today, these trees remain in BukatanaHUB, painting a unique scenery where people can enjoy the Finnish sauna, dining and educational workshops.

Löyly word is very memorable and also it's just awesome to know that pouring water there has an exact word for it. Really shows sauna is a deep tradition in Finland.

I was surprised about the size of this place. So many activities we can do and in a green atmosphere. I have never seen bamboo buildings like this, with artistic details in every corner. Stunning!

Feels like home. Maybe because it is a home, but also because of the warm welcome and service we have had all day.

Veikko's explanation about Finnish sauna culture and why sauna is more than just a tool for health was eye-opening. I never knew that the philosophy of sauna was so deep. The dinner was amazing. Food was fresh, tasty and there was so much of it.
